So ReactJS memes are a thing?
Learning comes in many different ways and if studying memes to be proficient at ReactJS is wrong, then I don't want to be right? I also got some JS flashcards from Anki at the suggestion of my instructor Mike. I haven't had the chance to study from them but if I manage to get a free moment from my weekend project I will do so. Speaking of which...
My weekend project is here. And it looks fun. Challenging, but fun.
The project is to build a dynamic photo album with ReactJS. It combines routing, ajax-calls, React, arrow functions, ES6, JavaScript, CSS, and everything else we have covered up to this point. Truly an all-encompassing project. Its intimidating, but because I can use my own photos and my own touches I can enjoy working on this. I also managed to make a lot of headway on the first evening just by going over old projects and using what I've learned to get started. And thanks to Austin from class who helped me work through a few bugs in my code after class (and who reads this blog...another thank you!).
Friday is lab day and entirely devoted to working on the weekend project. However, we have been using our Friday's to visit tech companies in Vegas and meet with other developers. On one hand, it just means I will have more work to do over my weekend and less time to spend with loved ones or running errands. On the other, getting to meet these people is crucial to me getting a job after bootcamp, which is my main priority. Hearing their stories, asking questions and getting some face-time are so important. And even seeing what kinds of different work environments exist in this town. So far we've visited two places and both were as opposite as night and day. Not that one is better or worse than the other. But if I am going to be in one spot for at least a couple of years I want it to be comfortable so I can get work done and enjoy myself. Not all work environments are created equal. That we get to see that in person is a huge benefit of this bootcamp and makes it worth the while to attend.
A meme to end today's post? Sure, why not. Maybe I'll learn something from it.
