It has this weird name, here in my native language ... weird but also kinda cool ... epic ... like something from the fairy tale or High fantasy domain ...
... the Witch's heart.
Clathrus ruber it's a Basket stinkhorn fungi with strong smell and very distinct shape. I encountered this interesting creature only once in 2020, on 17 November ... when all the photographs in this post were taken.
It was a lovely autumn day ...
... comfortably warm ... sunny and colorful ...
... and I found also some small, pretty generic looking mushrooms, in the area around the Witch's heart.
I don't know the name of this species.
I went for a walk, in search of mushrooms that day ... in the woods about 10 - 12 kilometers from my hometown ... and I did look for mushrooms and other fungi stuff ... but ...
... I also spent a decent amount of time around this tree ...
... because the foliage looked great on photographs.
I found this group of desiccated Puff mushroom sacks filled with spores ...
... under some shrubs, near the tree ... and then ...
... a bit further ... I found a few solitary Puff mushrooms ...
... in the same, dried out conditions ...
... and that's all I found that day.
It was a short walk ... so, the post can't be very long :)
