The celestial situation was pretty dynamic on that day.
The first series of photographs was taken early in the afternoon.
I kept zooming in ...
... and out ...
... as the clouds were slowly changing.
Don't know how long I stood there ...
... with the eyes set firmly on the sky ...
... but, since I took plenty of photographs, it must have been unusually long.
This lovely cloud formation ...
... was slightly isolated from the rest of the celestial foam. It looked a bit like some creature that floats on the river of mist above the sea.
Not all clouds were this compact and cream-like.
Some were more elusive and sparse ...
... like vanishing brush strokes on the large canvas high above my head.
After this journey through the clouds, I jumped in the sea and spent some time there. The hours were passing nice and slow while I was busy enjoying the typical summer activities, swimming, snorkeling, daydreaming, and reading. When I took a good look at the sky again ...
... it was late afternoon.
The sun was pretty low in the sky ...
... and its rays were clearly visible.
At one point ...
... an airplane entered the scene.
It looked like a falling star.
Soon the flying machine disappeared into the clouds.
Some minutes later the plane surfaced from the dense, cream-like sea in the sky.
Lit by the evening light, and with all those clouds around, the distant plane started to look a bit like some celestial worm ...
... on a journey through some strange, heavenly landscape ...
... and it was a joy to follow.
Here the thing entered another layer of clouds, and in the following photograph ...
... the plane surfaced again.
As the sun was going down the light was becoming more intense ...
... and now, the distant machine ...
... was passing through a magnificent, golden skyscape.
In this photograph, the plane entered the third layer of clouds ...
... and here, it disappeared from sight, completely.
Some minutes later ...
... I was following the same plane again ...
... until it disappeared for the fourth time.
I took a couple of planeless shots, and then ...
... the plane reappeared for the, I don't know, the fourth or fifth time. I'm starting to lose track ...
... and soon ...
... I lost the airplane.
Definitively this time.
With the plane out of the picture ...
... I was getting focused on other details.
In this, and the previous two shots you can see some shifting fragments of clouds photographed high above the horizon, where the sky was still blue.
Lower in the sky ...
... closer to the horizon ...
... the clouds looked like some hot, melting stuff.
After taking a few more shots ...
... I started collecting my beach stuff. It was time to go home ...
... but, as the day was slowly turning into the relatively short summer night ...
... I took more photographs ...
... on the way to the car.
The walk to the car wasn't very long ...
... but the light was changing rapidly.
The sun disappeared behind the horizon some time ago ...
... so when I reached the car ...
... the sky was pretty dark. The only clouds that I could photograph at this point were those lit by the fool moon.
I shot the moon twice and drove away.
AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.
