Unable to sleep, Ellie moved through her dark farmhouse, playing her guitar and remembering a night in Jackson where she kissed Dina and bitterly snapped at Joel. Snapping out of the memory, Ellie packed her gear. Ignoring Dina's desperate pleas to stay, Ellie walked out into the night to pursue Abby.
It was the same night that Tommy came over with the map of possible location of Abby, where Ellie was seen getting up from her sleep, restless and unable to find peace inside the quiet farmhouse.
I had to walk over to the partially opened window and close it to block the cold air flowing inside before stepping into the nearby art room filled with paintings on display.
Inside a storage box, I found Ellie's journal, which contained detailed sketches and written entries documenting the harrowing journey she had endured up to this point.
Heading down the stairs to the lower level, I located another partially open window that left the room shivering cold, so I stepped close to pull it shut.
Ellie picked up Joel's guitar resting right beside the window, and I helped her tune the instrument before she began softly strumming a song in the dark.
As the music echoed, Ellie was pulled back into a memory of a community dance in Jackson, surrounded by music, warm lighting, and crowds of people.
Both Jesse and Dina appeared in the memory; Dina was happily dancing around others while Jesse casually chatted and flirted with Ellie in his usual playful manner.
Dina walked over to Ellie, who remarked that every guy in the room was staring at Dina. After a brief, playful exchange, the two began kissing on the dance floor until an older local man interrupted, complaining that it was a family event.
Joel stepped in to defend them, angrily ordering the man to walk away. However, still furious over learning the truth about the Salt Lake City hospital, Ellie turned on Joel and snapped that she did not need his help.
The flashback faded, bringing Ellie back to reality as she packed her gear. Dina came downstairs, and realized Ellie was preparing to leave the farm.
Dina tried her absolute best to persuade Ellie to stay and choose their life together, but Ellie insisted she had to finish it. Unable to change her mind, Dina watched helplessly as Ellie walked out of the house.
