Hope you're all having a great week so far! Man, the markets have been absolutely crazy lately. Did you see that the S&P 500 just blasted past 7600? Trump announced an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz with Iran, and it looks like that gave the market exactly the stability it was looking for.
S&P 500 went up 1.48%, and the Nasdaq jumped 2.14%. It’s funny because just last Thursday I was honestly worried semiconductors were going to keep tanking. But Micron managed to pull a reversal before the close, and aside from Apple, the rest of the Magnificent 7 are doing great. Even the VIX dropped down to 15.70, and we are finally out of the fear zone!
With Sandisk earnings coming up on Wednesday (looking at a crazy $34.52 EPS estimate), things might stay green for a minute. But honestly? Once earnings season wraps up, we’ll probably see some gaps get filled and prices dip again.
I always tell myself I’m going to time the market perfectly and buy the dip, but when the dip actually happens, I just end up buying bonds instead out of panic lol.
It really just goes to show that blindly dollar-cost averaging on payday works just as well, if not better, than stressing over moving averages.
Especially with retirement accounts, since your monthly buys get relatively smaller as your portfolio grows, you aren't changing your average cost that much anyway. Just stick to your ratios!
