Hello everyone, today I'd like to share a few photos of an orange beetle. The photos were taken while on a walk in a park.
Using google lens, it was initially identified as a ladybug, but this beetle looks a little bit too elongated and the black spots didn't match the images given by google.
Did a little more googling and subsequently identified it (with thanks to wiki and google) as podontia affinis, a species of flea beetle.
As the photo above shows, it looks a little bit too elongated to be a ladybug at first glance.
Subsequent photos below show the beetle sitting on a leaf from various angles.
This was the last photo taken before a particularly large ant crashed the party and the beetle made a quick escape. I blinked and it was gone, only the curious ant was left on the leaf.
