Steem Hop is one of those games that looks simple on the outside but once you start playing you realize how addictive and tricky it actually is, the whole concept is based on that classic crossy road style where you control a little cube character and you have to keep hopping forward without getting hit, in this video I was playing on the desert map with that white cube that has red marking on it, and the main challenge is the roads and the train tracks, you have purple and orange cars coming from both sides non stop, and then there is the train lane with logs that you have to time properly, if you miss one hop you are gone and you have to start again from zero.
What I really like about Steem Hop is how the game tests your timing and focus, you can see my score at the top left going up as I cross each lane, I started at 0 and was pushing for more but the traffic pattern keeps changing so you can't just spam hop, you have to wait, look left and right, then jump at the right moment, sometimes the cars come too close together and you have to quickly go back or wait on the safe zone, and the train lane is even more dangerous because the log moves fast, in the video you can see I got hit around 5 seconds and the game restarted to the blue screen with STEEM HOP logo, that is the annoying part but also what makes you want to try again immediately.
Another thing that makes this gameplay interesting is the environment design, the map is not just plain road, you have that desert area with small rocks and trees on the side, it gives that western vibe and makes the game feel more alive than just cars moving, and the cube character is so small compared to the cars so you really have to be precise with your movement, one wrong hop forward and you land directly under a purple car, you can see at one point I was trying to cross two lanes quickly and almost made it but the orange car caught me, that is the kind of moment that makes you shout because you were so close to beating your top score which in my case was showing as TOP 93.
Overall my run in this clip was a mix of good hops and bad luck, I was trying to build a high streak and get past my previous best, you can see the coins counter at the top right showing 270 and then 271 when I picked one, so you also have to collect coins while dodging traffic which adds extra risk, sometimes you go for a coin and get hit, but that is the whole fun of Steem Hop, it is simple to understand but hard to master, you just keep hopping, dodging cars and trains, and trying to go as far as possible without crashing, and every time you die you want to press play again and do better.
