Not only do the gas stations look different around the world, the way you pay for them varies too. In New Zealand you can pay at the pump or in the store. In some cases you have to pay inside before you can get your gas, which is a pain if you don't know how much you want. Petrol is expensive. I pay the equivalent of around US$7 a gallon. The price varies around the country and I live in one of the cheaper areas. I don't know how they decide how to charge people in different suburbs, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with how well off the people are who live in them.
