There is a new store in town! Since it's new and somewhat different from the usual convenient stores that the locals own and operate, it has made a buzz. Yeah! That's how people react to new establishments that come in town especially when it's known in the country and internationally and offers new services or products.
Please understand that we are living in a small and sleepy town. We are not used to big and internationally operating establishments. This would be the first time. We are not used to airconditioned, and looking very organized type of stores or store with its trademark building and name. We only get to experience these kind of store when we are in big cities. Even the city nearest to our town do not have this store. So this is something new to me and the locals. I am talking about the 7-eleven convenient store.
7-eleven has finally find its place in our town.
Days before the New Year I and the husband decided to check it out. The store has a parking area. Good thing for car owners. Inside the store are well organized products in racks. The aircondition was cold enough, I love it. Aircon is happiness when you are living in a place with hot weather. 馃槃
My husband works in the city so he is familiar of the services 7-eleven offers. He recommended we try their hotdog sandwich called Big Bite and have our snacks there.
I didn't realize this was self-service until my husband picked those sandwich and hotdog from the oven. Gosh! I felt so uncivilized. HAHA!
This was satisfyingly good!. 馃憤
We paired the Big Bite with coffee which I regretted after when I remembered I had my coffee already during lunchtime.
After having our snack, I checked on wines and alcoholic drinks to prepare for the New Year. Everything looks nice and tempting.
Checking on low alcohol content beverages
I also found one interesting product while looking for some chichirya or chips. It's the almond and dried fish. Almond is an export product so it isn't a common product here but dried fish is very common and familiar. When I saw it I just uttered the words, "Wow, sosyal na buwad (dried fish)!". 馃槃. Sosyal is a term or an expression we use when we see something or someone that used to be so common or so unsophisticated in our place then suddenly it becomes sophisticated or classy looking. Like those dried fish packed in classy packaging. 馃槅
This one is too expensive for me when I can buy those dried fish of the same kind in the market for 2$ per kilo. So it was a 'no' for me 馃槅.
What's a yes for me is Dingdong (a very handsome Pinoy artist). Oh, not him but this super yummy snack which would be perfect as you go "maritessing" (gossiping) with neighbor or friends 馃槅 or while watching your favorite shows on netflix.
I also got my eyes fixed for a while on pringles. But, nah! Again its a no for now. It's too expensive for a snack. 馃槣
After looking around, I finally picked my favorite snack which is Dingdong and Piatos. Then I went to the counter and paid for it. We did not buy so much from 7-11 store because looking at the prices I could say this store is for the rich people. The prices are way higher than a local convenient store. It's more or less 10pesos difference like Dingdong I bought which costs around 24php in other stores but here it's 33php of the same package size. Well maybe because we were not just paying for the products they sold but we are also paying for the convenience like the cool airconditioned building and electricity is very expensive.
But what I love about the store is that they are eco-friendly. They don't use plactic bags but instead, they use paper bags and ecobags. At least in this way they can do a little for the environment.
