From the Hills to the Sea

Kids will be kids. We can't keep them in a monotonous day inside the corners of the house or keep them together along with us in this mundane kind of day we adults choose to indulge. They have to have something to do. They need to be always moving, walking, playing, and discover the world around them inside or outside the home or may it be online or in real life. That is how they learn, to be able to level up in life. And as a parent, I need to keep up with these active kids I have at home.

During the Holy week, we had a long weekend to enjoy but being at home with the kids means I need to level up my energy too. So one way to keep them occupied is bringing them outside, go somewhere they can enjoy, learn and use their energy up.

So we started our walk to the back area of the house. The back area is a low hill full of vegetation and green scenery of trees and grasses. I brought my kids to this area and walk through narrow pathway towards a land owned by another resident of our barangay. I noticed during the past few days that there's a lot going on their land so I just came to see what they're up to. [Marites leveling up] 😆.

Upon entering their unguarded property, I can tell that it has been cleaned. Grasses were trimmed and the trees were pruned. You might say we are trespassers but I guess, not putting up a fence on their property means it's ok to see around as long as we do not take anything from there.

I guess, this is what they are up too. Harvesting bamboos (gu-od). These matured bambaoo poles can be used to build bamboo houses.

The air was so fresh in here. After hitting a 33°C temperature that day, a fresh, cool, gentle wind on my sweaty skin is all I need. Thanks to these trees around.

We continued back home and then decided to hit the beach and wait for a spectacular view of the sunset.

On our way, I can't help but notice my neighbors' vegetable garden. What's remarkable is that most of the households have their own garden even if they have only a limited space.

_{How should I call this? Garden on wheels? Or Tired Garden? 😆}

Kidding aside, I appreciate the resourcefulness and creativity of the people even in gardening.

This one is another garden goals for me. This inspires me a lot to really be serious with gardening this time and plant my own food.

We then crossed the national road to get to the beach and noticed this. People who sells copra (dried coconut meat which will be used to process cooking oil) do this. They take advantage of the scorching heat of the sun plus the heat coming off from the cement to dry the copra faster.

On the way to the beach, you can see the grasses died and dried up due to a very hot weather with less rain. Summer it is!

We're on the beach. Since it was still passed 4 pm, the kids and the kid at heart, their papa enjoyed the time by climbing up this coconut tree that was almost uprooted by Supertyphoon Odette.

Days like this when their papa is home for the holidays is what my children love so much because they get to play with their papa. Precious!

And now, the best part of today's #WednesdayWalk is witnessing the spectacular view of the sunset. I could say our place has the most beautiful sunset. Hahaha! And to back up this claim, here are some of our sunset photos.
