We are often faced with a dilemma.

"A dilemma is a problem offering two possibilities, neither of which is unambiguously acceptable or preferable."

When I decided to write this post for #marketfriday, a challenge introduced by dswigle@dswigle and very hard to get out of our habits. Friday afternoon, I was faced with two dilemmas. Whether to write it or not, because I realized I had no idea what to write about and I had nothing recent that fit the specific theme of this challenge.

The second dilemma was whether to give up posting or to appeal to memories and refer to a past event.

I chose the latter, to appeal to memories!

Well, my dilemma doesn't fully meet the definition, in that not both options are unacceptable... just one of them.

On the streets of Potos

My best memories are from my trips to the sea. In any seaside town where tourists gather, there is an important commercial component.

In fact, almost everything is for sale and can be bought and, of course, the locals live almost exclusively on tourism income. Because of this, on all the streets, the main ones, and even the most hidden ones, there are a lot of objects on display that might be of interest, i.e. exclusively to tourists.

Tourists are the best customers. And there are many of them, they go in groups and "attack" the stalls. Even if they don't buy expensive items, they buy a lot. A principle dear to vendors, get a little from a lot!

I, whenever I'm at sea, besides all the things I see and test, I do one more thing, in fact, I research something else...

My wife's shopping habits

My wife acts like a prey animal, except she doesn't sniff out the prey to eat it, she just wants to catch it and put it in the bag!

First, she studies the place and the den of the future prey. Sometimes she has no luck because the den is closed, but that never discourages her. Supply is high and everywhere.

img_2817.jpg

I have always been flabbergasted when I saw furs for sale in seaside resorts in the middle of summer. The ladies who buy these are true professionals, luckily my wife has not reached that level.

img_2826.jpg

This shopping hunt happened in Greece, on the island of Thassos, in the small village of Potos. We wandered all the narrow streets and spent hours browsing the stalls and small shops.

For the first time, it happened that I am glad we have a limited budget. If not, I would have had to carry dozens of kilos of items, especially since we especially like clay pots.

img_2912.jpg

The limited budget has helped us to be more watchers. These small shops with pottery and wood handmade by local artists were our favorites.

The offer is very large and hard to grasp. I'm already tired just looking at the photos, I can still feel the pain in my tired legs. I need to change my mind a bit from dead objects and remember the living beauty of Greece. Today will be no sea and beach, just nature and flowers!

The flowers of the Mediterranean climate are my favorite, I never get tired of looking at them. The abundance of colors, not only on the flowers. Even a little kitty couldn't decide what color to make her eyes.

img_2833.jpg

A long walk among the stalls and shops tires you out but also stimulates your hunger. Believe me, the Greeks are ready for that too. A small example... All very tasty!

img_2800.jpg

One last look, there's always one last look. This little shop was our favorite.

img_2799.jpg

Like everything in life, this shopping session has come to an end. Reluctant and tired, we try to leave the temptation zone. Not before checking the contents of the bag.

img_2943.jpg

img_2951.jpg

Oh, I almost forgot! Searching through the photos I found this one very eloquent of the wife's shopping style. Careful checking of possible purchases.

img_2918.jpg

Looking closely at the photo scared me. I noticed a lady who seemed to be surveying the area but... but she didn't seem to have a body!

img_2918_1_.jpg

Looks like a mannequin, I wonder if mannequins can be ghosts too?

I could write more, but I'm already bored and I realize how bored the intrepid readers who have come this far have become. That's why I have to stop and being a #marketfriday post, I always do this with a flourish, #alwaysaflower. This time I'm trying something new. I'll end with two flowers.
