Museums are an attraction, a necessity, and a pleasure to visit. The most enjoyable way to learn, a mix of learning, walking, relaxing. Most of the time we go to the museum out of curiosity and not with an explicit desire for learning but learning gradually envelops us and only after we have left do we realize that we know much more... so we learned!
My favorite museums are the outdoor ones. Taking up as much space as possible, so that the walk makes me forget about the exhibits or vice versa. One of my favorite museums is a botanical garden. The oldest and largest in Romania, it is located in the city of Iasi.
I have been there many times and I remember with great pleasure every walk among plants and flowers. I was once there with two good friends, one of whom is my wife.
Located on the outskirts of Iasi, in the neighborhood called Copou, this botanical garden covers an area of over 200 hectares, covering flat parts, hills, and forests.
Beyond admiring the landscape, the nature, and the flowers, I was more a follower of my friends, with the clear intention to photograph them as much and as discreetly as possible and to discover the emotions that this beautiful place caused them.
This entrance which is a rose stand leads to the part dedicated to roses. I like it because it looks like a tunnel and will even become a tunnel when the roses climbing on the wooden frame are thicker, now they are quite small.
Roses are not my target at the moment but I can't get through without showing a little of their dedicated side.
My girlfriends got tired very quickly and sought rest and shade from the trees because it was so hot. A tour of the rose alley takes quite a long time, with breaks at each flowering bush and under the blazing sun.
The only protection against the heat remains the shade of the trees. We left the open spaces and walked more on tree-lined paths.
Now I understand how important it is that this garden is laid out like a huge park and there are many parts where the vegetation is left to grow like in the forest, without human intervention. It also matters that the garden is very old, most of the trees are old and imposing, forming a barrier against the hot rays of the sun.
Even walking in the shade of trees is tiring. My friends are increasingly looking for a place to rest, it's a sign that the walk must come to an end.
Taking advantage of the girls' inactivity I tried to see and photograph the other visitors. I always try to photograph as unobtrusively as possible, both to capture the normal attitude of the subjects and to avoid disturbing people on their walk. However discreet I tried to be I was still noticed by the smallest visitor.
The young visitor didn't reveal me. He was pleased with his find and kept it to himself. Very nice!
This walk through the botanical garden was truly relaxing and enjoyable, especially pleasing to the busy eye with lots of beauty due to the multitude of flowers. I didn't want this post to be about flowers, as it would have been normal for a botanical garden. I wanted to highlight the trees for their diversity, beauty, and usefulness. I wanted to highlight this without referencing it through comments, only now I ask you to take another look at the photos and look at the trees that are in the background most of the time.
