Calendaristically, in my country of four seasons, summer has begun. God, I didn't even notice when spring passed. Time flies by me. Reading some magazines (online) I saw out of the corner of my eye a headline that promised to explain the sensation of time passing much faster as we head towards old age. Attracted by other headlines, I missed this article and never found it again. I missed the opportunity to understand this phenomenon, this perception, because time, in fact, flows the same way. Otherwise, we relate to time in childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age...
If I said that time flies by, I think you've realized that I'm getting older.
If summer is my favorite season of the year, then the weekend is my favorite part of the week! Even now, when I'm retired and not going to work and when all days might be the same, I appreciate the weekend more. With one difference. When I used to go to work, Sunday wasn't my favorite day of the weekend because the next day I had to go back to work. Now it's changed. I like Sunday the most ( Saturdays my wife makes me work around the house...), I don't feel the pressure of Monday anymore.
The summer that has just begun is my favorite.
Red summer from the increasingly stifling heat of the sun, yellow, the color of the sunflower, and the sandals that is becoming my favorite footwear as well and will accompany me into the rainy fall.
A full, exhaustingly pleasant day!
There are days and days, sometimes boring and uneventful and other times too much going on. This first Sunday of summer was in the second category. A full day! I enjoyed it and will try, briefly and with a few photos, to take a picture of it to share.
Why am I doing this? There are personal things that can bore others. But I think that if there is a person in this world who wonders how a man in Bucharest, Romania, spends his Sunday! I feel compelled to tell the story for that man and I will surely find out eventually if he really existed.
I started the day with my two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter Ilinca. In an attempt to give more of the city to the people and get them out from under the wheels of the cars, the municipality organized what is called "Open Streets" (open for some, especially children and closed for others, drivers).
Of course, Ilinca greatly appreciated this initiative, even if she doesn't know how to say it, but it shows.
Ilinca is the sun and the sunflower of our old age. We let her enjoy the freedom and play and headed to the park for our walks every Sunday. Herastrau Park is the most beautiful in terms of green space in Bucharest!
Every walk through this park is with completion. Completion means a coffee for me and profiteroles for the wife. Theoretically, I'm not allowed coffee and she's not allowed sweets, practically we don't respect these bans from the "bad doctors", especially on Sundays.
I lied and now you can see from the photo, I had a profiterole too, I couldn't resist the temptation. It may not look that good but I assure you it's the best in town. Only natural and good quality ingredients, this place has a tradition of decades.
Usually, on regular Sundays, this is where the spectacular part of the day ends. This time, something special follows. The main purpose was not the movement, fresh air, and some culinary "depravity". The main goal and left behind, just like the saying "last but not least"... The main purpose of the walk was culture!
Every year there is a big book fair. Due to the pandemic, it didn't happen in previous years, so now, after a three-year break, back at Bookfest Bucharest!
For such events, there is a special place in the city, located, fortunately, right at the entrance to Herastrau Park. The Exhibition Pavilion.
This fair is something special for our city Bucharest (the capital of the country). We visit it with great pleasure every year when it happens.
At this fair are present all the publishers in the country and there are guests from abroad, this year it was Japan! The offer of books is enormous and there are great discounts.
I was impressed by the crowd of visitors. It's a great joy to see that books and reading are still appreciated, despite the competition from the internet and television.
An even greater pleasure I had when I saw many children. Children are very interested in books. Children who will surely be the readers of tomorrow. Our future!
Among the visitors, we found two living statues inviting us to the book stalls. Good marketing.
It was really a full, exhaustingly pleasant day!
It has become a habit to share with you how I spend Sunday. It was not my idea, but of @ace108 and
@c0ff33a. I mean #beautifulsunday and #sublimesunday tags!
Both the Beautiful and the Sublime Sundays fall into what is called THE WEEKEND, this community created by @galenkp. My opinion.
I hope I'm not breaking any rules, i.e. this rule prohibiting cross-posting. I don't know what that means and I'm not desperate. I hope it is not forbidden to refer to other colleagues of ours and their initiatives if somehow there are similar topics. I refer to communities, also called tribes. I hope they are ecumenical communities, to use a religious term.
Ecumenism (/ɪˈkjuːmənɪzəm/), also spelled oecumenism, is the concept and principle that Christians who belong to different Christian denominations should work together to develop closer relationships among their churches and promote Christian unity.[2] The adjective ecumenical is thus applied to any interdenominational initiative that encourages greater cooperation between Christians and their churches.
I'm glad the term tribe is no longer used. It brings to mind some closed and not very friendly groups.
With the hope that I have not stepped out of line, I end this presentation of a great weekend for me and my family.
