That's how I hope it is, a black-and-white essay, but much closer to the truth is that these black-and-white photos are just attempts and exercises.

When someone draws sketches and makes more attempts at drawing, they are said to be doing their hand. That is, they are training their hand to draw better.

Someone like me, who is trying to understand how to choose the most suitable photograph for black and white, can be understood as making his eye. That is, he trains his eye to get used to the characteristics of this kind of photography.

A double portrait. Teacher and disciple. A former great ballerina and a young ballerina eager to make her debut.

Originally this photo was in color, I think it was a good photo and I think the conversion to black and white added something extra, I think I chose the photo well.

This is one of the questions we have to ask ourselves if we choose black-and-white photography. Which images are suitable for black and white?

I didn't initially ask myself this question. I converted my photos at random. I took a set of photos and converted them to monochrome and then chose the ones that looked best. I chose without thinking about any criteria, I chose as I pleased.

After some time I realized that something more was needed. To use some criteria to choose and I looked to see how the professionals do it. That's how I found out that "the image should be analyzed according to certain visual elements, these being: lines, shape, texture, pattern and color". That's for choosing the subject of a photograph in general. Obviously, for B&W you have to forget color.

I didn't really understand how to do that, but I chose to follow the pattern. The pattern means a repetition of shapes... That's what I tried to find and hopefully found in the photos below.

I had a personal criterion until now, the one exposed below. Next, I will have to follow the others shown above.

For me, it's easier to choose color or black and white. When I shoot in older places, places that remind me of the past, memories, and nostalgia, I like to change the photos to monochrome, especially black and white!

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
