Those coy longing looks
Are replaced by furtive, cold stares
Fine dust has settled on the books
And silence emanates from the stairs.
Why do they speak of love
When we're whispers away from hate?
Why are there no answers from above?
Or for me, it's already too late?
How can this be happily ever after
When there's no more laughter?
Glancing down at my wedding ring
Makes me shudder and cringe.
My marriage is not a bed of roses
Filled with forced life and fake poses
My eyes are turned into two hoses
Should I pack up and count my losses?
