I took a picture of this signage on the side of a building on Beale Street in St. Charles, MO. Mainly I took it because it was totally unique to me, I had NO IDEA what Cherry Blow Dry Bar could possibly be. I'm sorry to say my mind might have headed for the gutter, seeing Cherry and Blow and Bar all together with the image of cherries. Can you tell I live in a small town?

So I had to research this, and it's a pretty harmless explanation, though I'm not at all sure how they arrived at this branding. It turns out this is a hair salon. Their signature styling service is called the Cherry Blowout. You can pick a hair style from their Lookbook and they will do their best to create that look for you. And they have add-ons called "The Cherry on Top" which includes scalp massages, braids, hair extensions, instant therapy mask, temporary eye lashes for that sultry glamour look, or if your roots are showing - temporary root conceal spray.

I went to the website of the St. Charles location and looked at the prices. To book a "blow out" style is $45. To add-on a 10 Minute Scalp Massage is $12, to add-on the Instant Therapy Mask is $12. So I'm up to $82.80 if I leave a 20% tip. Whew. A little rich for my blood, no wonder I didn't know about these salons. However, they do have a Membership program with a couple of different options that would probably reduce the price somewhat.

You can also get a "Blow to Go" (I'm not making this up!). It includes Blowouts and Dry Style Services. Prices depend on the stylist and are charged per hour, with additional fees for travel and tip. (Again, my mind may have wandered to the gutter with their descriptions).

They are selling franchises for these salons all over the United States. The "blowout category" is a growing salon industry all over the world with a $40 billion a year income. The Cherry Blow Dry Bar started in 2013 and a couple of years later was bought out by Fred and Steve Vicario who now offer these franchises to entrepreneurs in this growing industry.

So just how much is a Cherry Blow Dry Bar franchise selling for? Let's see what it would cost to invest in one. Information from their website provides the following information:

I'm assuming the total investment, plus the $39K franchise fee does NOT include your brick and mortar building and all related costs to actually run the place. This is just to get you started!

So there you have it, somewhere new to get your trendy Cherry Blow Dry style, or something new to invest your money in - take your pick. Or, like me, just enjoy the photo of their unique signage and keep on walking.
