Splinterlands Journey: How has the first three months been?
I started this game on November 28th and put $5 into it not including the spell book. The following is my journey from that point and where I am today. I will discuss some of the luck, (or lack there of), I have had along the way as well as mistakes I may have made.

Looking at the numbers above you will see that I am still in the green in terms of the money I have put in and what my current portfolio value is. I am quite pleased with that considering I started playing when card prices were at their highest ever along with bronze league rewards being at their lowest at the time.
LUCK: splinterlands has been kind to me in a few ways over my time playing. Currently, I own three gold foil cards that I pulled from loot chests as well as pulling two djinn chwalas and two djinn renovas from chests. By no means is this redefining my financial future in the game, however it does keep you going and rewards me for the time I have put in.
Investments: The money I have put in the game has been spread out in two different areas at this time. Cards and Packs. I have bought 12 packs thus far and opened two which gave me two rares. Card purchases have been spread out between cp value and strong card usability. My largest purchases have been a djinn oshannus and have upgraded three summoners to level 2 (tarsa, Sloan, Kelya).
Mistakes: early on I would rent cards to reach bronze 1 at cp to cost ratio of about 100. Looking back I was probably losing dec every day and just hoping to hit it big on a loot chest. As mentioned above I did get lucky a few times, however I would have probably been better off staying in bronze 2 and grinding it out. One card purchase mistake of mine was a boogeyman which I bought for $9.30 at the time. My plan was to run a speed death team but soon realized this is not a great strategy for bronze and silver. I know rarely play the death team. In the future this card will probably go up in value, however it currently sits at $3.01 making an ROI of -67%.
Overall, I am pleased with my time thus far invested in the game and the rewards I have received from it. This is on average what I think most players can expect which is not as doom and gloom as some might think getting started in splinterlands. Coming in during its peak and seeing a pullback has made me more in tune with where I put my money but my no means has shaken my confidence in the overall future of the game.
