The US is trying to end internet neutrality.
What does that means?
That means they want to limit what you can access on the internet. And yes that is as bad as it sounds... In fact, this post is much more important and alarming that you can imagine.
Internet neutrality
Net neutrality is based on the principle that all the information that travels in the network must be treated in the same way, sailing at the same speed, guaranteeing the free access to any type of content in the network without harming user autonomy and not discriminate certain applications by broadband consumption. - Wikipédia
That's why when you access Internet you can play your online game or check your email account, Youtube, Facebook or even come to steemit and Upvote this post xP
Pretty much you can use the internet as much as you want for the time you want because of Internet Neutrality. Your ISP cannot block you from access some site.
OMG Is this going to Happen??
Probably. Let's hope not but that's what some operators in the US are trying to do. And for those of you who are not from Us and are thinking: "Well that is not in my country i don't have to be afraid of that". You should because if it begins in the US rapidly become a "Law" in the rest of the world, the rest of the countries will follow. Except for North Korea and China, they will do the opposite xD
Internet Operators
They are dying for this law to be approved.
If it is approved they can treat you Internet Package like a TV Package, for example:
If you want only use Facebook and Youtube and check your mail you have the Basic Package.
If you want to play your online game you have to buy the normal Package which has "more" things you can do on the internet.
If you want to use the full internet you have to buy the Advanced Package that allows you to fully navigate through the Internet but you'll pay the double or even more of what you are paying right now.
Resuming, your operator could charge you more for what you already are using right now.
If this comes forward
Get ready, because if this goes forward your operator will come with that small talk like: "ahh but you will only pay what you use" or "The Internet traffic will become better". Bull$%&#
Don't fall for that... you are not gonna only pay what you use but instead, you are gonna lose what you already have.
Let me know what you think of this matter.
Be safe
