I was tending to my grapevine. At least once a week I weave the new loose vine leads in with the rest of them. I was leaning upward when I felt a light flutter on my leg as though something small was on it. When I slowly looked down this is what I saw. A little juvenile Brown anole (Anolis sagrei) had jumped on my leg(my apologies for the less than optimal focus on some of the shots as this was completely unexpected and rather abrupt so my camera skills were hurried).

I remained motionless so I wouldn't scare the little thing off my leg. As I watched I realized what was going on.

The Brown anole(Anolis sagrei) was eating mosquitoes that were eating me(that's not a smile, that's chewing going on).

It would hop on my leg, snatch a mosquito, then sit there and eat it.

After it was done with a few snacks, it would hop from my leg to a little branch where it would wait for new mosquitoes to light and start eating.

Then it would set sights on new prey.

In the blink of an eye it would pounce and snatch a new meal. I couldn't say that I had ever been protected by a Brown anole before but now I can. What a wonderful world we live in. Have a fine evening and keep an eye open for the wondrous. You just might see something.
