Hello early adopters!
It is my consideration that currencies are things through which people exchange value. With my definition virtually anything that is barter able is a currency. For many olden societies in China, Asia and the Americas seashells were a form of currency and had value as means to expedite trade and barter. Certainly anything that is portable and that individuals assign value to is a currency. No legal entity such as elected governments or dictatorships will change this. What is portable and has value is currency to the people. Therefore in my opinion, gold and silver are currencies as were seashells. Without a doubt securities and crypto coins are also currencies. If you do not agree, then send me your stocks and coins!
Legal tender is a different animal. Legal tender is whatever the king or queen, dictator or president says is legal to trade, barter and pay taxes with. You are outside of the law if you use opium as your legal tender. You are inside the law to use fiat. You are in the shadow zone if you use crypto.
The only way to get crypto out of the shadow zone is through positive government action. For this reason, I ask you to contact your representatives in congress and use your wisdom to convince them to allow crypto a chance to grow and share the space of legal tender. A few states and countries are already moving in this direction such as Arizona and Liechtenstein. If you do not want your country to be left behind, use your voice and your contacts to influence and or buy the influence of those in power. (sadly, discretely buying influence seems to be the most effective mode of influence where I live in the USA)
Just a side note. After I posted this it never showed up in the new posts list. Does that happen to anyone else?
