RE: Can We Please Not Use Hive Reward Pool For Another HBD Stabilization Attempt?
Do you know how much is paid out every day in rewards? The hdbstablizer posts are an incredibly small fraction of that payout. So your content/rewards loss arguments is really a non-issue, IMO. So, my

As was clearly pointed out, it also makes profit for all Hive holders. And it is a great advertisement for the profit that the profits being made by the hdbstablizer proposals (which are paying for >25%

If that's really true, then we (Hive holders) have got a money making machine on a level that most investors could only dream of.

The haircut ratio isn't really about limiting printing currently. Printing is actually limited before that point. The haircut ratio is really about trying to avoid a deathspiral. It's almost certainly

RE: Proposed hardfork change to stabilize Hive Dollar’s tracking of USD value
HBD was designed to be pegged to the dollar: it is supposed to be a stablecoin. And this has a very valuable purpose : a relatively stable price versus commodities makes it more suitable for commerce.

RE: HBD about to be stabilized
I'm not opposed to increasing above 10% and it was definitely a somewhat arbitrary value chose by @dan, as edicted mentioned. But as he also mentioned, I'm not eager to make too many changes too quickly.

Using the 3.5 day median isn't great because it may be a lot higher than the current price at the time the conversion is initiated just due to market fluctuations, which may result in very low collateral,

Looking at the graph, it looks like the rate at which it is rising has slowed a lot.

RE: Proposed hardfork change to stabilize Hive Dollar’s tracking of USD value
The converter's "collateral price" in this case is already a 3.5 day median. So it's presumably a reasonable price, unless you're concerned about the price of Hive being persistently pumped over

Over a short period of time, I think 2x should be sufficient. And even occasional losses aren't really a problem, given the mechanism being proposed.

The fee is effectively burned in all the proposed forms of the operation. While it "might" make sense to add 5% to the normal conversion (HBD -> Hive), it would require more work/testing,

One interesting aspect to the delayed mechanism is it sort of gives a useful application for temporary lockup of Hive as per @tarakzp request: it's useful for Hive holders that want to make a profit by

I like the idea, and it would work well in combination with a 24 hour delay. And, importantly, the mechanics still look fairly simple to implement.

RE: Proposed hardfork change to stabilize Hive Dollar’s tracking of USD value
There's no strong economic relationship that links the price of HBD and Hive right now. There's actually a reasonable argument that if we can stabilize the peg for HBD, that Hive will gain in value, as

I believe it will incentivize trading, because it will be easier for someone to obtain HBD to trade when someone is trying to pump the price of HBD beyond a dollar. Whether that happens on the internal

The 3.5 days isn't so risky, because it cuts both ways: it can work to your advantage as well as to your disavantage. Savvy traders have long recognized this, and realize that on average they can rely

RE: Proposed hardfork change to stabilize Hive Dollar’s tracking of USD value
Not exactly: I think the median should absolutely be overridden in the case where it provides better than the current price: the whole point of that mechanism is to avoid gaming by the converter. But
