RE: The Decentralizatoin Of Hive Infrastructure
Comcast, my home provider, just recently instituted data caps this month, but you can "upgrade" your plan back to unlimited for $30/month.

Geographical coordinates of supporting or refuting parties, where they choose to provide them (such as in profile) or knowledge of a particular area, may be incorporated in the weighing algorithm. Yes,

RE: The Decentralizatoin Of Hive Infrastructure
Not sure why it's not switching on Leofinance, but one possibility is that they don't have it configured to auto-failover to other nodes (each frontend can configure which API nodes it wants to

RE: The Decentralizatoin Of Hive Infrastructure
At the moment, I think we have an abundance of API nodes, relative to traffic levels. So I think there's enough incentivization now for at least top witnesses to run API nodes. Not all of them do, but

Actually hivemind's storage footprint is now down to 440GB. Now that will increase a few hundred GBs if we move the account history data from hived to hivemind as we're planning (but it's not necessarily

RE: The Decentralizatoin Of Hive Infrastructure
In my opinion, Hive could be operated now entirely off home-based nodes (except for the issue of decentralized hosting of images and video, but work is being done here). Traffic can easily be distributed

RE: The Decentralizatoin Of Hive Infrastructure
A witness node is really quite cheap to run nowadays on Hive. IMO, the biggest real "cost" at this point is just the skilled labor to update the software and deal with occasional hardware problems,

RE: The Decentralizatoin Of Hive Infrastructure
A while back we added capability to hive-js (one of the primary libraries used to develop frontends like hive.blog) for it to detect when a node starts failing and allow for it to failover to other nodes.

At this point, the software is about 10x more scalable than it was. But also note that is 10x over it capability, not what it's currently serving. So its current scalability is much more than 10x current

Such bugs have nothing to do with the "last big upgrade". That's got to be an error with the interface you're using, such as hive.blog, peakd, etc. If you notice a bug like that, report it in

There are highly rewarded accounts on Hive that often act as interpreters of information from other posts, but often these accounts are making very useful contributions, I think. I've seen many posters

Yes, in a way it's interesting that every language doesn't more forcibly require these two different cases to be disambiguated. The varying power of language to express different concepts is a fascinating

I haven't had time to read Dan's book yet, but I worked with him for a few years, so I'd guess I'm aware of many of his ideas. Still I'll definitely make time at some point to read it, since I'm sure his

I hadn't heard of it, but it does seem to have correspondences with the rating systems I'm envisioning. I should also add I've found portions of many of my own ideas espoused by other people in other research

In this first post, I intentionally didn't say a lot about how rating software could help our current methods of rating information or how it would work, because I had a lot to say about how we rate
