The Jozef Mehoffer museum is part of the national museums and quite the interesting place. If you are ever looking for something different to do in the city, then this museum should be on your list. It is Jozef's house which is now turned into a museum. The tickets to the museum are sold online as well as on-location, however, it is free to enter on one day of the week which I cannot recall. Hallmann and I spent some quality time in the museums around on that day.

Krakow has much to offer to keen minds. I immediately fell in love with Krakow because of how closely it resembled Kharkiv in many aspects. The longer I stayed there, the more I learned about the city's rich and talented heritage and history. All credits to hallmann@hallmann who not only hosted my stay through krolestwo@krolestwo, who are now doing so much more for Ukrainians in Krakow, and also made me feel at home.

The museum not only gives you an insight into Jozef's work but also is his house. It gave me a unique feeling of stepping into his life and learning about him on a very personal level. When left to explore by yourself without a guide, it might make you build assumptions about his life in the house and his lifestyle. You get to walk into his bedroom, his dining hall, and everything that is usually very personal. It is the very place where he lived with his wife, built a family, created his highly appreciated artwork, as well as dined and slept.

I later learnt from foggymeadow@foggymeadow, who is a very talented artist and art student herself, that Jozef is one of the most highly esteemed Polish artists. He also played a huge role in shaping the art culture in Poland.

The house has a beautiful garden behind it, which he designed himself very passionately. I regret not taking pictures of the garden. It is a huge place in the house which is now turned into a cafe. Visitors can sit on the porch and enjoy a cup of coffee and the view. Obviously, the garden has gone through a fair share of modification and redesigning, as well as the house, but left as close to authentic as possible. There is also a stone track that traces the garden where you can enjoy a brisk walk.

At the entrace a beautiful stained glass welcomes you. Mehoffer's stained glass artwork is very popular and considered among the top of his talents. The house, however, showcases all his different styles of art. From tiny charcoal/graphite sketches, to large portraits.

The rooms are spacious with high walls, all furnished with original furtinutes. Looking at the different styles he worked with, and how he lived was very interesting. There are many original artifacts like his painting set with brushes and paint, almost like a time capsule.

Among the various artworks, there are some that are of his family - namely his wife and son. Oh, I also got to see his son's room, which was very interesting. The furniture back then was so different. However, I noticed that the portraits of his wife were all made with her facing the same side. In one of the last portraits of her you can also see the son on the dining table.
