Would you rather work in a job you totally hate but pays you well or work in a job you love and find inspiring but the pay was low and you had to strictly budget your financial matters. Explain your answers.
I find it funny and tiring how we humans have to work for most of our adult lives, well you can exclude those who don't necessarily have to work.
For most of us, however, we must work to keep body and soul together as we do not have the opportunity to decide not to work. I find this week's question intriguing as it has got me thinking a lot. The first part of it is having to live most of my life doing something I hate.
The plus side of that is that I can afford most of the things I want and outside work, I get to live the life I want. For those who have lived in an environment where there was a lack of money to get the basic things, I think you can understand the need to leave that life behind and live a life where you don't have to struggle to get by.
The option of staying with a job I hate because it pays well would be quite tempting if I were to ignore the mental struggle that comes with it. It's only a matter of time before it begins to eat at my soul and the money won't be worth it anymore. I wouldn't want to live a life I find unfulfilling because I want the monetary gains that come with that life.
Now, I have to assume the options above apply to a specific period and with time I can decide to leave that job for a better one. With that being said, I would still choose the job that I love even if I have to live within a strict budget. It would be more beneficial to do something I find fulfilling.
One of the leading causes of depression among adults is working a job we hate but have to do because of the money. My mental health comes first before anything else and working in an environment I love would protect my mental health and the good thing about doing what I love is that I will continue to seek ways to improve it and therefore, with time I would be able to improve my skills set and get a job that I love and also pays well.
I am responsible for the life I choose and I would choose happiness over everything. Since I would be spending most of my day at my workplace, I choose to work at a place I love to be, while also working to improve my finances because I believe it's possible to improve the quality of my life if I am in a happy place physically and mentally.
