Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I'll be sharing a simple crochet top I made for my friend. I previously made something similar for her a few months ago. Her birthday is coming up soon and she wanted the same design in a different colour.
This project is easy to make and it is worked vertically, that is, in columns.
Materials
Medium weight yarn (I used 100% acrylic yarn)
Size 4.5mm crochet hook.
Terms
Rw - Row
SC - single crochet
BLSC - back loop single crochet.
Ch - chain
First I started by taking the measurements from under the armpit till where I wanted the top to stop. That was about 10 inches and I made 50 chains.
I also took the measurement of her bust which is 33inches.
This top is worked in the front and back panel separately. So I divided the bust measurements into 2, to give me 16.5 inches.
Rw 1: 1 SC into every chain
Rw 2: BLSC into every stitch from the previous Rw, at the end of the row ch 2 and turn.
Rw 3: SC into the second Ch from the hook and BLSC into every other chain till the end of the row, ch 1 and turn.
There is an increase of 1 stitch in every even row (Rw 2,4,6,8,10,...).
Repeat Rw, 2 and 3 until you have 4 inches left till completion. I did a total of 44 Rws which was 12.5 inches.
Since this pattern is quite stretchy, I always stretch the panel before taking measurements.
Rw 44 - 48 : regular BLSC without increase or decrease.
Rw 48 - 53: I did BLSC until I got to the point that I started from, which was 50 stitches, Ch 1 and turn and continued with regular stitches for 5 Rws.
I did 2 identical parts of this and joined both sides to give me the complete top.
I'll be sure to share the pictures once she takes pictures with the dress. Meanwhile these are pictures from the previous one.
