I’ve been waiting on this one for a bit now. Between the several months it took me to pay off, to the several months after that it took me to receive it…my anticipation was ski high for this package to arrive. But that’s usually how it is when I have a beautiful new piece of art arriving just to die in my ever growing Spidey Gallery!!! Let’s jump into it…shall we?

First off I’ll give a bit of background for any first timers checking out my worthless ramblings here. I am a gigantic dork. That would probably suffice…but I’m going to dive a bit deeper. I’m a gigantic dork who has a spot in his heart for all things Spidey. Ever since I was a little booger eater, the Web Head has always been my guy. That love and passion has translated from toys & comics….to games & movie…and now all the way to collecting (or hoarding) Original Comic Book Art.

I mean the actual art that is used to make these wonderful funny books that ignite something special in so many people around the globe. I hunt down some of those pieces through a myriad of avenues…racing other insane and passionate collectors, just to be lucky enough to once in a while land a tasty gem such as the one I’m going to show off to you fine folks here with me today.

This piece is a published cover to issue #850 of Amazing Spider-Man. That specific issue has like 20 different variant covers and I’m happy to own not one…but two of those bad boys!!! Well, the other is still on its way to me and should be here shortly, so for now we will just focus on this tasty piece by Mr. Marco Checchetto.

Marco is an Italian artist who has been conjuring up beautiful images of some of the most beloved characters in pop culture from Spidey (duh), to Daredevil, to the gang that makes up Star Wars. He’s fairly badass and I’m thrilled to have a piece by him enter my collection. He was also gracious enough to include a handful of signed Daredevil comics and a sweet art print with the package. Thanks Marco!!!

When I first saw this specific cover solicitation, I immediately fell in love…then I tracked down Marco to see if there was any way that I could snag the Original. After a few attempts with no reply, I quickly shifted my tactic and found his art rep Daniel, at Scotts Collectibles.

Daniel was an absolute pleasure to deal with as we worked out a fair payment plan for the piece. The price?!? $3000 smackers, which I was more than happy to pay on this beauty.

I’m sure to some, $3000 seems like a lot of money….and it absolutely is! But in the world of Spider-Man covers…especially on his flagship title of Amazing Spider-Man!?!?! It’s a steal in my book. While I have every intention of framing this puppy up to hang & gawk at each and every morning…it doesn’t hurt to know that I’m parking my cash in a place that I feel confident will grow over time. The OA market for quality Spidey pieces is one of the safest in all the space.

Before I finish up here, I’ll leave you with the published cover for this mofo. You can see that the little white webbing spots were added in digitally. The next piece I have arriving has a few similar qualities of little effects being added in after the fact.
