As I’m an uber nerd and love all things geeky, I’m in a bunch of different comic/toy groups throughout various platforms. I just want to clarify that I also like Uber, the car service app...although I’m in zero groups for that as that would be totally weird. Right?!?
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. On one of the Skybound groups I’m in on Facebook, a member recently brought to light of a cool wine gift set. Real quick...Skybound is the brand that oversees creator Robert Kirkman’s properties which include The Walking Dead.
That group is filled with passionate comic fans who are extremely active and post daily about all things...kinda wish what I wish were happening here...but that’s a whole other fan of worms. Anyhoo, a member (whose name escapes me as I didn’t plan on writing this initially) popped up a post regarding some tasty Walking Dead wine.
It seems that several months back, a gift set featuring a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc was released at liquor stores across the land. What made this special was that little notation on the upper right hand corner. See it?!?
That’s right...there was a stupid reprint variant cover of The Walking Dead #1 included. The thing is...there are a massive fuck ton of Walking Dead fans out there including a ton of completists. Those are the maniac who collect EVERY SINGLE COVER...kinda like I’m doing with The Amazing Spider-Man. Yeah...I’m absolutely insane but we can also discuss that at another date.
For now let’s discuss rare wine 2 packs because that’s what this is. Even though this is a comic and show about zombies...it should be a supernatural theme as this fuckin thing is a complete ghost. I tried to find a set yesterday and stopped at 6 liquor stores including a wine specialty shop. Nada. Zilch. All I got were blank stares back.
A detailed search online brings me to the same place...Nowhere Street. I can’t find a damn thing about it anywhere besides on the group I’m in. A couple members there got their hands on some and this is what the book looks like.
I should add that neither of these photos used here are mine. They are one of the lucky group members who were able to obtain these and was kind enough to provide pics as reference for the rest of us.
I even checked eBay thinking that some alcoholics who just bought the wine to booze up with would have popped the book up to recoup costs. Nope! I can’t believe how much of an absolute unicorn this book is. I don’t know what they would even fetch on the open market as now a bunch of Dead fans are searching. Supply is low and demand is high so I’m trying like hell to snag some. If you have any luck with these, please let me know as I have a few guys in my shop alone who would sell their firstborn I’m sure.
