I’ll keep this one short and sweet. This right here is the hot comic of the week. People are going bananas over pretty much any version of the new Captain Marvel #8 which releases today. Ok, so this week sees Captain Marvel #8 hitting and...so sorry for the spoilers for the 2 Captain Marvel fans here...it contains a first appearance of a new character named Star. I flipped through it a bit yesterday and she’s in it for several pages, has some dialogue, and is mentioned by name. This is not a cameo but a first, don’t let anyone tell ya otherwise.
Anyway, the spec sites have jumped over this and the feeding frenzy has started. I wish I would have listened to Brian Springman over at FACTS on Facebook and bumped my orders significantly 3 weeks ago...but I didn’t and I’ll suffer for it. Kudos to him for calling this book weeks back before release when nobody else was.
Who knows what will happen with this character in the long run?!? But for the time being, collectors, speculators, resellers, and readers all want a piece of the action. Speaking of action, these are all over the place. With a $3.99 cover price on the regular standard cover...we are seeing copies in the $15-$25 range. Same with the Carnage-Ized variant. The 1:25 ratio variant is bringing in anywhere from $60 to over $100. Madness!!!
For the standard cover, there are 2 versions with a subtitle difference. On the logo, you’ll notice that some will have the red Carnage Symbiote goop on it and some won’t. They seem to be around a 50/50 split.
The Carnage-ized variant is pretty sweet. There is a store doing a virgin version as an exclusive but I think the regular of this is good enough.
This one here is the biggie of the bunch. The 1:25 variant by Izaakse. This flew under the radar for most and 99% of shops aren’t ordering 25 copies of Captain Marvel which means this one will be tough to find in the wild.
Either way, good luck on your quest. Snagging the regular copies or the Carnage-ized variant for cover should bring ya a $20 bill if sold immediately. Not retiring off of it but let’s say you score a few copies...with Steem currently in the toilets, it’s a nice way to add some tasty Steem Power to your account with a low buy in and found money.
