the snake voluntarily keeps itself in a basin, it's likely seeking shelter or feeling safe in that place. However, snakes need enough space to move about.
This reminds me of an event that took place many years ago in my maternal home when my elder brother and I went on holiday there. We arrived in the dead of night after a 16-hour journey from my village. When we arrived, exhausted, I skipped taking a night shower and went straight to bed.
Within 10 minutes, I heard an alarmed shout—it was my brother yelling "rope rope," using the acronym to represent a snake. He was about to take a bath in a makeshift native bath outside the building. The shout jolted me from bed, knowing my brother was scared of snakes. I rushed to the bath entrance, where my brother, who had already run out, was holding his head, exclaiming "rope rope." As I got closer, I saw something unforgettable: a snake coiled on the ground, raising its head in defense. The compound was dimly lit with the native lamps and I suggested the snake to be a cobra. Within seconds it's slithered and disappeared into the bush.
When my brother narrated the story, he mentioned seeing the snake coiled in the conner of the makeshift bathroom.
