I saw a man standing in the vehicle, checking the passengers' tickets and ensuring that their seats matched their tickets.
This reminded me of my first trip to Lagos when I boarded the APC transport company from Umuahia to Lagos. I entered a bus that provided me with great comfort and made me feel like I was traveling by plane.
Something funny happened. One hour after the vehicle took off, I fell asleep and started dreaming. In my dream, I found myself at the airport boarding a plane with no visa in my passport. When I presented my passport to one of the immigration officers and he stamped it, I asked which country I was going to. He replied, "When you get there, you will know." The excitement of traveling by air prevented me from asking further questions, although I was filled with suspense about whether I would land in Europe or America since I longed to visit both. I had a big bag with me, filled with dry ground foodstuffs and leaves like egusi, ukazi, achi, etc. When I saw those items, I became confused and started asking myself, "How did you get these foodstuffs, Nne?" Then fear overcame me, and I muttered, "Somebody wake me up; it feels like I'm dreaming." Immediately, a security personnel walked up to me and said, "Please, this is an airport. You're not the first Nigerian traveling to the USA. Do you want to be thrown out of here?" I remained silent, and the next thing I knew, I found myself in Lancaster, where I checked into a hotel. The receptionist said, "Welcome to the USA." I asked, "Is it the United States of America?" He responded, "Yes, of course." I asked how it happened, and he replied, "You know the story better than I do," and then left. I was treated like a princess with various types of delicious food. I prayed and said, "God, please let this enjoyment be permanent, for this is heaven on earth."
As we were approaching Edo City, our vehicle, while trying to avoid a pothole, collided with another vehicle. People started shooting as the vehicle lost control for two minutes, causing panic and shouts, especially from women and children, inside the vehicle. While all this was happening, I was still asleep, in another world.
A few minutes after the tension subsided, a woman woke me up and asked if I was a spirit or a human being. I became angry and asked her why she woke me up, as I intended to sleep until I reached my destination. Everyone exclaimed, "You must be out of your mind!" and thanked God that no one had major injuries.
