Ebola Outbreak's Impact
During the time of the Ebola outbreak, many people were infected by the disease. including men, women, and children. Our community suffered the highest casualties.
King Ezekwezere grew more concerned when his daughter was infected. He contacted Queen Erotowa, his first wife, instructing her to summon the other queen. He expressed, "I believe the disease in our community result from our mistake. Examine yourself, and ask Queens Ojoko and Alabam to do the same." Queen Erotowa responded, "My Lord, I've had sleepless nights since my daughter's fell sick. I fear the gods are displeased." As they conversed, the chief guard arrived, signaling an emergency. The king inquired, "Dike, what has occurred now?" Dike explained, "Your Highness, someone has come by government order. The message concerns our calamity." The king urgently replied, "Let him in."
Upon greeting the king, Mr. Obia was asked, "Please explain your purpose here." Mr. Obia stated, "The Ministry of Health sent me to urge your community to avoid contact with monkeys." The king questioned, "Monkeys? How and why?" Mr. Obia elaborated, "Health workers believe that monkey contact contributes to our problem. The message is being broadcast on television, radio, and in newspapers. I'm here because your community lacks access to this information." The king responded, "If abstaining from monkeys can solve our problem, I and my people will comply."
As Mr. Obia departed, Queen Erotowa commented, "So my daughter's sickness was not my fault." The king reassured her, "My queen, let's trust the gods and follow the government's guidance. I'll entrust this matter to Mr. Dan, the great hunter, and his group, and then rest for no one has died in our community yet, therefore our God has not totally forgotten us. Our daughter will not die let keep calling on our God."
The federal government issued an order to ward off any monkeys seen anywhere, as it was assumed that the outbreak was an angel of death sent to annihilate humanity. The outbreak spread trauma, fear, heartbreak, and death around the world. Many communities were deserted.
We lived in a rainforest area abundant with monkeys, so the Ministry of Health gave guns to community leaders for people to ward off monkeys. My uncle, a skilled hunter and leader, led shooters to where monkeys might be found. Uncle Dan realized that monkeys had become extinct in his community's forest, possibly migrating elsewhere.
One time, while leading his group to a potential monkey habitat, they were awestruck by the scene they witnessed. The monkeys displayed remarkable intelligence and lived closely attached emotionally, psychologically, and physically. Even those that their relatives were affected by Ebola were stunned by the sight. The monkeys, though far from human environments, remained highly security conscious, alert to any potential danger.
Mr. Dan decided to chase the monkeys away to prevent conflict, but the monkey community was immediately alerted to their presence and escaped. They saw a mother monkey protecting her baby from being shot. Mr. Dan and his men were astonished by the mother monkey's determination to defend her babies.
The first story ended when the shooters empathetically stopped their efforts to ward off monkeys, because of the way the mother monkey protected her babies, despite migrating into the wild, the monkeys displayed strategic intelligence and unity, escaping their colony upon sensing the slightest human threat.
.The second story ended when the king's daughter was instantly healed, and others affected in our community were healed as well. The king and everyone in my community were happy again."
