Sam Finds Important Documents
Sam went to Daddy's room immediately after he kept his luggage in his own room, and I followed him. In Daddy's room, he went to his wardrobe and unlocked it with the key kept on top. Nobody had ever had access to Daddy's room until Sam came back. When Sam opened the wardrobe, he saw a metal box object inside. He searched through the documents in the metal box object and found something that interested him. Then he looked at me and said, "Onyi, my little queen, I have found what I was looking for." After that, he closed the metal box object, put his hands on my head, and said, "My little queen, everything will be fine."
At that time, Daddy was in the hospital, and Mum was taking care of him there. My aunt was taking care of me, and I was 14 years old. Sam went to the kitchen to greet Aunt Gladys, who was preparing food for both of us.
Sam said, "I have to leave because I have an urgent matter in the city to attend to."
Aunt Gladys replied, "Sam, don't say that. I have finished preparing something for you."
Sam replied, "Please, Auntie, I can't eat now. Onyi, just get a bottle of water for me."
After Sam took the white metal box object, he seemed satisfied and smiled. Then he asked me to go to his room and bring out the green bag beside the bed. The items inside the bag are tagged with the names of Aunt Gladys and me. I was to give the bag to Aunt Gladys, and she would give me my own. Sam then entered his sports Toyota car, placed the metal box object on the passenger's seat, started the car, and as Aunt Gladys heard the sound of the car, she came out to say goodbye to him. Sam waved at us, accelerated the vehicle, and drove away.
Aunt Gladys placed her right hand on my shoulder and said, "Let's go to the kitchen and get our food."
Four days later, Dad was discharged and came back home with Mum. Dad had been admitted due to the shock he had when the court sealed up his two estates in the city.
The estates were built by his engineer, who claimed that the estates were his own. When Dad heard about it, he had a heart attack because he knew the engineer knew everything about the properties. Engineer Mike had been with him throughout the process of acquiring the land and building the estates, and even had access to Dad's private rooms in the city. Dad trusted Engineer Mike greatly, and he became Dad's confidant.
Due to the heart attack, Dad couldn't present himself in court, so Sam and Dad's lawyer prepared to represent him. The original documents were inside the metal box object Sam found in Dad's room. When the lawyer met Dad in his room, Dad nodded and smiled, saying, "I know Sam had shown you all the necessary documents." I and Sam were sitting on Dad's bed while the lawyer was sitting on a seat beside the bed. The lawyer reassured Dad that they had everything they needed to win the case.
On the day of the court hearing, Engineer Mike, who had a replica of Dad's house documents, was bragging and showing confidence as if he had already won the case.
I and Sam were sitting at a particular corner in the courtroom. After a short while, our case was mentioned, and the judge demanded the evidence. Dad's lawyer presented the legal documents and transactions he had with Engineer Mike, while Engineer Mike's lawyer presented the documents given to him by Engineer Mike.
The judge compared both documents and discovered that Engineer Mike's documents were fake. As a result, Dad won the case, and Engineer Mike faced the consequences of the law.
After coming out from the court, we were full of excitement. Sam called home, and Mum picked up the call. Sam informed her, "Mum, we won the case!"
Mum responded, "God, thank you! That's great news. Your Dad needs to hear this."
