CLAY MOLDING
The decline of arts and crafts, including clay molding, in secondary schools has hindered students' holistic development. Some students attest that they have neither molded nor engaged in crafts because every parent aspires for their child to become doctors or lawyers, overlooking the importance of crafting.
I firmly believe that arts should not be completely eradicated, as it offers great advantages and does not hinder students
from pursuing professional courses.
Clay molding provides benefits such as enhancing fine motor skills, fostering creativity, promoting patience, and offering a tactile learning experience. Moreover, it encourages self-expression, critical thinking, and a sense of accomplishment, contributing to a well-rounded education beyond academic subjects.
Due to the decline in crafts, I have implemented compulsory clay molding for all JSS 3 students in my school. I want each of them to have this wonderful experience to explore their creative potential.
These are the results of their efforts, and I am impressed. Each student chose a craft, and they were awarded marks based on the quality and beauty of their work.
