I have seen Bob Dylan play twice in my life. The last time was in the summer of 2018 in Kilkenny when he was supporting Neil Young. The father in law was mad to see Neil Young (he even named his eldest Neil). I gladly went along to see two legends even though I am not into Neil Young all that much but then he belted out Old Man and he made the whole gig worth while. Dylan was on before him. At the time he was 78 years young. He came on stage. Plonked himself down on the piano and belted out the hits. Never said a word to the audience. Hahaha. I do quite like him for that. I imagine if 
Now there was a moment at the gig where I had to ask the guy next to me if he was playing a certain song. The guy said to be "I'mmmmm noootttttt quiteeee sureee either" so everyone was a bit puzzled. It was actually the song. Bob was doing his own renditions of his own songs but they were completely different, I was laughing listening to "Like a Rolling Stone" which sounded completely different to the great great song. Instead of thinking it was terrible I was just glad to see the old man still in action and still doing whatever the fuck he wanted to do. Why?? Because he is Bob Dylan that's why.
I was listening to a podcast lately and they were wondering what the old rockers, folk stars do in their daily life's when they are not on tour. Does Bob pour himself a bowl of cocopops and watch deal or no deal in the morning. How does he fill his days? Does he walk the dog? Does he wear just a jocks to bed or is it more of an cardigan and pajamas type guy? I would love to know this but I doubt Bob is going to tell me anytime soon. Bob has so many classics that it is impossible to choose three tunes to actually pick. Now lots of people say the guy can't sing but I think this added to the genius. Like in 
Like many of my musical loves, different songs hit me at different times in my life. When I got my degree from college I spent the whole weekend listening to "Rolling Stone." But these 3 songs in particular are my all time Dylan favourites.
Maggies Farm Live At Newport 1965
Dylan was a folk singer and that was his game but when he came out with an electric guitar at Newport festival in 1965 he nearly caused a riot as the fans were appalled by the sound of the electric guitar. This is the best version of Maggie's farm there is by the way. I just love the whole song from the lyrics to the guitar licks to the rhythm. It is just class. He was only a young lad there, only 24 years of age and he looked as cool as fuck. Bob did what Bob wanted and he never gave a shit. I think there is a point in the song where he slags off the audience. That the boy Bob. You tell those peasants.
It Ain't Me Babe.
Arguably the best bridge to a song ever. This song gives me the shivers. Enough said. This song came to popularity when the man in black Johnny Cash covered it with his wife and it was a massive hit but Bob wrote it and I actually prefer his version. I don't care what anyone says, I like his voice. Gives all us normallys a bit of hope.
Positively 4th Street
Bob was always a master lyricist and he was a big fan of reading old books and old songs. He was a huge fan of the Clancy brothers from here in Ireland and was seen in their home town near me Carrick on Suir with one of the brothers not so long ago, I think we can all relate to this song. Losing a friend or what you thought was friend and being pretty bitter about the whole thing. I quite liked the way he didn't just bottle things up. Nope he wrote a class song about it. I think songs like this one will stand the test of time. It's not a nice song. It's not an upbeat song but it is a powerful song about being stabbed in the back by a mate. You should listen to the song right through. The lyrics are excellent and they stand the test of time. Maybe even more so than today when friendships maybe are not what they used to be.
I could keep going for an hour and list at least 20 more classics that are a must listen. The man is just a genius really. He was a man that kept changing his voice when he figured out he was going to lose it if he kept going the way he was going. So he started singing differently to take the pressure off his throat. Listen to the song Lay lady Lay below. You would think it is a different person. I would say Madonna got a few tips from this guy.
