Hello everybody and welcome to the Football On Hive 2024 Last Man or Woman Standing Competition 2024. The Rules are very simple
Pick a team:
Choose wisely, my friend, as this team will be your only hope in the treacherous world of football predictions.
No repeat picks:
Once you've chosen a team, you can't select them again. It's like trying to date the same person twice – awkward and not allowed.
Survive and advance:
If your chosen team wins, you move on to the next round. If they lose or draw, you're out faster than a referee's whistle.
One game at a time:
For the winners each week, you'll make a new pick. No looking ahead, no cheating with a crystal ball – just one game at a time.
No draws allowed:
In the event of a draw, both teams are eliminated. It's like a double-elimination tournament, but with more drama and less mercy.
The last one standing:
The competition continues until only one person remains. The last man (or woman) standing will be crowned the champion, showered with glory, and probably a few congratulatory comments.
Now week 1 was interesting as I am drafting up this post just before the Spurs and Leicester match because I will be in the pub watching this one and I can't be arsed drafting a post after the match as I will be slightly inebriated and merry. So I just put Spurs down as a win such is my confidence of a win. So everyone got through except for two people who are clearly on drugs. One names are @seki1 and they were the bane of my life during the Euros competition so karma has come back and beaten them on the arse there. The other was
@bil.prag who was more betting on United to be terrible which is actually a good prediction although they should have had 4 goals against Fulham.
Edit: Arggggghhhhhhhhhh Spurs drew. The shame the shame. Doesn't make a difference really. Everyone through to round 2

Usually in week 1 I give the people who got knocked out a chance to come back in. So what I will do this week is actually leave the competition open to newcomers until the second round of fixtures. To make it fair on everyone I will consider Manchester City as the team selected in week 1 for these newcomers to week 2. I will also give @bil.prag and
@seki another crack of the whip but for these two to come back in they will also have to forfeit Manchester city from their picks. Sounds like a good deal to me. The two people who selected Spurs are through but just can't pick them again.
Nice couple of fixtures there to chose from. Choose wisely my friends.
I am tagging your lazy asses again.
