When I say our future I refer to the next 30 years. The lifetime of when most will be working and moving towards retirement. To me crypto is a way to retirement as all other options for retirement such as social security, pensions and 401ks have all dried up.
Crypto In 5 Years
Crypto will most likely be making a major transition to Stablecoins and huge DeFi growth over the next 5 year. Although stablecoins pose a potential massive risk which I wrote about in this article.
I don't see stablecoins not growing though as more are released and more use cases continue to roll out for them.
NFTs I believe will continue to hold a place and Ethereum will most likely remain the dominate crypto for this including smart contracts for DeFi. While there are other platforms they are all still piggy backing as tokens of Ethereum instead of their own chain. This is why I feel Ethereum will continue to be the dominate factor in these two places including others.
Crypto In 10 Years
At this point it's going to be a big hit or miss for Bitcoin. Either bitcoin is going to be a solid core store of value or it's going to flop and be replaced by a new dominate cryptocurrency. Much of this will start to rely on how the hard fork upgrade goes in November of this year and if continued updates will happen or not.
Crypto In 30 Years
If any of the OGs crypto tokens like Ethereum last this long they will have become a world power with massive market cap. Ethereum is pretty much primed this possible growth as development and changes continue to happen in a decent fashion. They also benefit from MANY side chains building on top of Ethereum.
For sure though crypto will be around. The dollar itself will become so incorporated within crypto that encrypted algorithms as a store of value and exchange quickly around the world will have become the norm.
There is no doubt about it that crypto is here to stay. Investing long term in solid projects that continue to grow and thrive will most likely set you up very well in the coming years. I believe so more than any stock, bond, mutual fund etc. (unless it's attached to crypto as well)
