Has Crypto News Become More Political

leoline.png

Every day I scan through headlines and news about crypto. I do your normal google search on crypto a few times a day to catch some of the big headlines but I also check reddit and a number of other places along with discords on projects I'm a part of.

Over the last month I have to say I've seen a shift in terms of Googles results as of late. It's no long FUD or new updates from blockchains but it feels increasingly more political and megacorp headlines.

Todays Headlines

  • Morgan Stanley says Ethereum less decentralized
  • The Future of crypto Isn't Bitcoin
  • Some lawmakers and their families are better thousands of dollars on crypto
  • SEC Probes Trading Affiliates of crypto giant Binances US

The general vibe of this doesn't feel negative really it just feels more government and megacorp in your face now compared to before.

Is anyone else getting this feeling?

The Shift

I feel another shift happening in crypto a shift away from Bitcoin and leading cryptos and even away from meme NFTs and cryptos and instead a shifting focus on other tokens that are 1) Decentralized or at least more decentralized and 2) less on the main radar and has a focus on web3.

I've notice some people laughing or making fun of web3 but personally I feel those people are being naive. I feel like over my experience in life so far I've done a good job at disconnecting myself from the majority and instead stepped out to look at everything as a whole. Not to see what tomorrow might bring but instead what 1-5 years might brings. Web3 is going to happen but I don't feel it's going to fully happen the way we want it to right away.

One web3 will not be fully decentralized. It will of course be more decentralized but I've never seen nor do I think I will ever see a fully decentralized version of anything ever really become something good. Any attempts of this have always lead to the worst in humans. That means there still needs to be some structure and boundaries.

Two power will start to be restored back to users and content creators and those engaging with this content are going to be rewarded for their time. Without content creators and people engaging with content a platform would be nothing more than a empty shell. It makes sense to offer some of those advertising dollars back to people. However like anything throw a penny at someone and they will start spamming and trying to game the system which is something that's going to have to be watched as well.

Third privacy! I feel like people are confusing decentralization and privacy. I firmly believe privacy will be restored in web3 or at least easier managed and better anonymity. You might not believe it but privacy used to be a lot more than it is today 22 years ago. I still remember those times however there are many that don't. It's pretty wild to think it's been 21 years since an executive order was signed that was only suppose to last for a few years is still in effect and if not stronger surveillance than it was before.

The question is do you feel crypto news in general is starting to become more political or am I just seeing things?
