As a birder, every year brings a thrill with the first-of-the-year (FOY) sighting of each species in my state (Washington, U.S.) and county (Pierce County). Yesterday on the first nice warm sunny day of the spring I saw my first Savannah Sparrow Passerculus sandwichensis, and heard my first singing Common Yellowthroat Geothlypis trichas.

Today, it was easy. They both posed for photos, and gave nice looks.
