Man and woman are two sides of the same coin. They have equal share of the responsibility of the family. Both of them comtribute to the development of the country. In the past, women were considered to be inferior to men. They were not counted on by men for any important works. They were considered to be a child producing machines.
They were confined to kitchen and kids. They serve the male members of their family. At times they become victims of domestic violence. Today, the situation has changed. Women have been given equal rights. They actively take part in all sorts of works and they have proved that they are not inferior to men.
However, women living in rural areas of our country are still under the shadow of darkness. They are bound by traditional concepts of the conservative society. Child marriage is still prevalent.
The percentage of literacy among women in rural areas os almost negligible. Sons are considered to be economic insurance against the insecurities of old age. They are said to open the gateway to heaven for their parents by performing death rites for them. They are the ones to carry on the family name and legacy, whereas, daughters are given away in marriage.
During the recent years, women have been working in different sectors. Women's mobility has been increased through development activities. When women start taking part in all development activities, violence and exploitation decreases. Their children are healthier and better at school.
The traditional role of women changes when they start earning. It gives them satisfaction and the family a sound economy and good social status. The family in turn produces necessary skilled human power ( both male and female). Not only highly educated women, but also semi- literate and young school dropouts have been helping to run organizations in different villages. They run co-operative societies. They save money to start social and economic activities.
Women work hard in farming. More than half of the world's food is grown by women. They contribute through various productive works which have helped to meet the basic needs of their children and family. They support the family through various activities. Women run businesses. They manage hotels. They are teacher, doctors and engineers. In this way women's participation has increased in every field of social service.
There is no doubt that there exists a deep relationship among women, ecology and economy. Besides, educated women play a vital role in shaping and developing human personality. Women have to do educated in order to educate human race. If a woman is educated, she educates the whole family.
The number of girls in school, college and university level education has been increasing year by year. In all kinds of technical skills, women have shown that they are not inferior to men rather than they are better in many respects.
Such awareness in the society will help to solve the problems of girls traffick for flesh trade, child marriage, unequal age marriage, family planning and all kinds of exploitation to women. Women have to be given equal opportunity in every field for the harmonious development of the country.
