It's a beautiful day in this great community and I hope you are all doing good, today is a day set aside for me to complete my long abandoned project and I will be glad to share with you the inspiration, the step by step process taken to accomplish this outfit and the beautiful outcome.
I have shared in my previous post how I made this beautiful flare gown outfit using 3 different fabrics, I got one of the fabric which is an African print fabric from some left over pieces after making my husband's outfit and it was used to make the flare of my own lower bodice, unfortunately, the flare was too short and in order to make it longer, I completed the full length with a long satin fabric which was the second material I used, then in making the upper bodice, the African print fabric was used to cut the center front and a basic back bodice while I used a floral lace material to complete the side front of both sides at the front.
All these were sewn together and set aside for a very long time while I was left with the choice of sleeves to make, I was a bit confused because I have exhausted almost all my fabric and was only left with pieces. Fortunately for me, I saw the making of this sleeves on Facebook and thought of replicating it on my fabric since I was looking for a suitable sleeves to make to complete my outfit.
To make the sleeves, I used the combination of two fabrics, one was the remaining African print fabric and the floral lace fabric
First step was to draft out a basic sleeves pattern on a brown paper and it was used to cut out the sleeves after that, it was cut in two using the floral lace fabric
I measured and cut out 15 x 10" on the African print fabric as well
The floral lace fabric was sewn on both sides of the African print fabric just as seen below
The center line was sewn together from the hem of the sleeves to where the African print started from
The next thing I did was to pleat the African print fabric on the line where the seam line stopped
The pleat was neatly ironed and sewn tightly on my sewing machine
The sleeves were sewn together at the side seam allowance and I have my beautiful sleeves ready
The sleeves were neatly sewn to the armhole circumference of my gown and this is the final outcome with some buttons fixed on the center line of the sleeves.

I am so glad to finally make this beautiful sleeves on my outfit after so long and this is different from the normal basic sleeves I usually make, it is unique, stylish and elegant.
