How I made a 360° peplum top with puff sleeves using African print fabric
Hello everyone
A beautiful day to you all out there and in this great community, I hope you are all doing great, it is with great pleasure that I will be sharing with you today the making of this simple peplum top I made using African print fabric.
We were to celebrate our 4th year anniversary in church and we concluded on buying 2yards of African print fabric for everyone to make a top for the celebration to be worn on plain black skirt just to minimize cost, it was fair enough for everyone and as a seamstress, I suggested a peplum top which I'm sure will be enough to make with the 2yards African print fabric and for the male among us, a shirt was made with their 2yards fabric. I started by making mine just for others to see the beauty of the outfit.
To start with, I drafted out a princess dart bustier on a brown paper using my upper bodice measurements before it was transferred to the main fabric , then I cut out the front bodice with matching lining
From the remaining fabric, I cut out a 360° flare using my waist circumference measurements and flare length with lining
For the back bodice, I cut out a basic back bodice with zipper allowance using the half length measurements with lining as well which was used to turned the neckline and both sides for neat finishing
For the front bodice, I sew both sides to the center front and it was turned with lining for neat finishing
The front and back were sewn together at the shoulder and were sewn at the side seam with the side seam allowance before the flare was sewn to the waist line.
I cut out a basic sleeve with the armhole circumference measurements before the hem was gathered together with an elastic band.
Finally, the sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and a matching color zipper was sewn to the zipper allowance at the back. This is the final and beautiful outcome of my peplum blouse.
Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post, do have a great and lovely day.
