As a seamstress, we really have to be creative in what do, sometimes it is not only the outfit we make that will give us that profit we are looking for, it takes more than making outfit to showcase our work out there and bring us more profit. Most times we overlook these pieces of left over fabric or scraps from the main fabric after sewing our outfits, trust me these pieces can bring you more profit than you can imagine.
Recently, I decided to reduce these heap of scraps fabric I have and in doing that, I thought of a smart way that can help me reduce them and also giving them new life again then, I started making different crafts that are beautiful, nice and useful. Well, you can decide to sell them to make profit or give it out as gifts to friends and family who will appreciate it.
This is the design I made from two different pieces of fabric to make a hair clip decoration, it was specifically demanded by a little girl in my neighborhood an I'm glad to make this beautiful design for her.
From a small piece of African print fabric, I measured 6 x 6" which was cut out
From another piece of plain fabric of matching color, I measured and cut out a circle with the diameter of 3"
The African print fabric was folded in two in a triangular shape and was sewn on the wrong side on both sides leaving an opening for it to be turned to the right side.
The circle shape which was cut out from the plain fabric was also folded in two on the wrong side and sewn round leaving opening for it to be turned to the right side
Both shapes were turned to the right side and neatly ironed, i placed the plain fabric on the African print fabric center line to center line and I use my hand needle and thread to run a long stitch through the center line on both fabrics.
It was gathered together and secure firmly with thread and this is the final outcome
Finally, I will be adding a clip to it for a beautiful outcome, you can see how beautiful this is.
