Now 4 days ago @nathanmars was sharing the initiative to buy at least 5 Hive for Hive birthday. As i had no funds on Binance but i had some BNB on BSC chain i decided to learn something new and spend some fees on CubFinance.
If your start point is BNB that most probably means that you have a wallet on BSC network. So you will need to go to CubFinance click on the Trade (second menu on the left), then click Exchange on the drop down.
Now you will get the Swap option, where you pick coins you want to swap.
BNB ---> bLeo
Now you have bLeo in your metamask wallet
Now you need to unwrap bleo to move your leo token from BSC network to Hive network. LeoFinance made a UI for wrapping and unwrapping Leo tokens on ETH and BSC.
Visit the UI for Wrapped LEO (bLEO). First on the left is bLeo. There will be 2 options. We want to send our bLeo to Leo (from BSC to Hive network)
Enter your Hive Username and click Submit
Click on the MetaMask option
Enter the amount of bLeo you want to transfer
Click OK, verify the transaction on your Metamask. Now you have Leo token on Hive network.
On the left side click on the LeoDex.
leodex.io will open and now you can trade Leo for Hive. Be sure not to multitask while doing this, as you can end up buying Leo and not selling it. not that i did :) (i did...)
Next, Click Withdraw and you have your Hive in your Hive wallet
Bonus, Power it up. I am taking credit for at least half of the price action that happened after this powerup. Second half is Ron turning off his witness for a replay.
After writing this, it does look a bit complicated, but in reality it is only few minutes and few clicks. Is this the best option to buy Hive? No, sure not, but it is an option that we have.
In the end i was probably lucky as i did a rough estimate and i started with a bit over 10$ and ended up with pretty similar amount (- the BSC fees)
