This is an entry into one of my two favorite weekly challenges sponsored by my friend @tattoodjay. You can get all the information on how to participate right here.
This is not going to be a smile inducing Wednesday Walk. The snowbirds are returning to Yuma for the winter season and some of them bring their boorish behavior with them. Know before you go one word further that there could be foul language ahead. Not impolite or suggestive, but just foul. I鈥檒l probably drop an F Bomb or two.
This post is actually the result of two walks Sam and I took on Sunday and Tuesday. This is our little corner of the desert that we walk in most every day. The 'winter visitors' are starting to return to our area and there are some that should be banned from Arizona.
This first picture is actually on a street. Obviously not a street as most define it, but it is a right of way in my area. Trash. Fucking household trash. DUMPED IN THE ROADWAY. Not just dumped so somebody like me can clean up after the assholes, but scattered to make it harder.
Trash collection costs $25.00 per month around here, and if you would rather you can take your trash to a tipping station and send it to the landfill for free. The nearest station is about 5 miles from this spot.
Here's the other thing: I pay for 2x per week pickup of my trash (an additional $6.00 per month) and don't average one can per week. Generally speaking my household garbage goes out about every 10 days. If you are so poor that you can't afford to have your trash picked up or take it to the tipping station you can drop your trash off at my house for FREE.
If you don't have any trash to dump, a half a pickup load of gravel will do. Just shovel it off in a pile so the next poor sap that drives along the road will find a nasty enough bump to possibly break something. It is, after all, your private road and you can just dump your shit where ever it is convenient and where nobody can see you doing your foul deed.
Got a new bed? How nice for you. Load up the old one and the old crib mattress and drop it right on another main trail. Somebody will take care of it for you, you need not worry about anything.
Don't even bother with the cover. It'll be fine. And go ahead and toss in a couple of pieces of electronic gear just for fun. Who cares? It's a big desert.
Got some broken concrete? Just drop them right in the track of a trail. Who cares if somebody drives over it and breaks a shock absorber? It'll be fun and they should be prepared for emergencies!
New carpet? Of course we know what to do with the old stuff. It's 44th street so nobody cares.
This is 44th street, Fortuna Foothills, Yuma, Arizona 85367. That's where most of the photos from today's walk were taken.
This is getting way too long, and I have more Desert Dickhead walk of shame photos and words to share, so I can guarantee you that there will be a Desert Dickheads II for next week. I am done with the trash photos, I've got way more boorish behavior to share. Unless, of course, there is more in the coming week. All these examples today happened in a one week period. Sam and I walk around here every day.
Thanks for staying with my rant all the way to the end. I really do appreciate it.
All words and photographs in this post are mine, for better or worse. Photos taken with an Iphone SE.
