Obviously not a barn. However, I am so taken by 
I was driving along on an extremely secondary road in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon when I spied this building about a half mile off the road in a community of sorts. Granite, Oregon established 1878 according to the sign.
Actually, I think it’s a Store Front where the owner lived upstairs. My great grandparents owned and operated a similar set up about 50 miles away in Athena, Oregon. It’s old, and about the size of some barns, hence the theft involved in the title.
The day before the 4th of July, I’m driving on a very back road with the window down and my elbow hanging out. It just doesn’t get much better than that for me.
The place has seen better days. The owners seem to be tearing it down (probably for the siding) and the back of it is completely gone. I’ll bet it was a popular place back in the day, but that day is gone forever.
Somebody has a sense of humor about the place. Take a look at the doll’s head in the upstairs window. Face out, watching the world go by.
I did see quite a few old barns on the “Blue Mountain Scenic Byway” but the road is very narrow with horrible sight lines so I just couldn’t stop to take any photos. Maybe if I had been on my motorcycle but…
I’ll close this with a view down the street in front of this building. Judging by the mailboxes I’m guessing that a couple hundred people live in or near Granite at least part of the year. It’s pretty typical Blue Mountain scenery. Verdant trees and beautiful vistas.
