My understanding (remember I speak 'murican and there are differences from those Englanders) is that Master is correct ONLY ON THE VESSEL. Ashore he becomes Captain. Aboard ship the Master was second only to God. Ashore, he could be over ruled and out ranked.

In the American Navy there is no master. Captain is 'the commander of the vessel' and also a non related rank. In American civilian sailing the commander of the vessel is considered the master but called captain by his crew.

In WWII my first wife's grandfather was given the Army rank of Colnnel. It was given because he ran a port and it was the equivalent rank to Navy Captain. As he explained it, when he was on a ship the Captain out ranked him. When they were ashore he outranked the Captain.

For the record, he was a Captain in WWI due to field promotions and the officers ahead of him being killed.

Chickpeas and lentils are a LOT alike. I don't know that they do or don't use them in candy or snack production. I haven't lived in lentil country for about 20 years. I wonder if they still have the same state offices as they once did. Right exactly on the Washington Idaho border there was an entrance door in each state but only one building. An extremely rare case of bureaucratic genius. One staff and two state experts that work together? Unheard of.
