There is a definitive test for Narcolepsy that involves brain fluid and it's only administered at Stanford so far as I know. I volunteered but they didn't need my kind :) 100% of people with Cataplexy have Narcolepsy. There is also a definitive treatment but it involves direct injection into your center brain with a synthesized chemical (which I lack). I think they used 4 individuals with 2 tries each and never got over 6 months of 'cure'.
I don't blame you for not wanting your children out of country, lots of risk involved medically. Maybe Blondie would want to be an Engineer? Texas has some damn fine engineering schools :)
