My favourite thing about living in the country as opposed to the city is the wildlife. I love going outside in the morning for a coffee and seeing a wallaby in the backyard, hearing the many different birds and whatever else we happen to come across.
One of the cutest visitors we get are koalas. I've done a post about them before and used some pictures from the one who lives at my mums house but in the last few days we have had a few of our own koala visitors at our place.
I spotted the first one from our decking perched up in a tree nearby. As I only have a phone camera at the moment it was quite hard to get a photo so I went for a closer look. When I got there I realised it was in fact not one but two koalas! A mum and her baby snuggled on tight, snoozing away in the sun. Since the sun was pretty much above me I couldn't get a photo of them then either but I promise it was quite cute.
The next day as we were leaving to go to the shops we spotted this cute fellow at the base of one of the trees in our driveway.

I know there is a male that lives nearby as you can hear them at night sometimes, they make quite the horrible noise surprisingly. Somewhere between a growl, a shriek and a bellow. I couldn't see if this was a male or female but he let us get surprisingly close. He hopped up onto the tree and climbed to about eye height and then just stopped and looked at us as we took some photos.

The baby with the mother was probably pretty close to the age it would go off on it's own so we thought it could of been her and had a look in all the trees nearby for a baby but no spot so I assume it's a different koala.

Happily posed for some pictures for us though and was in no rush to get away. He eventually moved a little further up the tree and by the time we got back from the shops he was gone.

It's definitely an advantage of living here aside from the space and what feels like more freedom. I'm hoping to get Lydia to teach me to use her camera so whilst we travel I can take better pictures. One of my aims is to go looking for different animals, especially those that are less common, and hopefully can get some nice pictures too!.
