Hello Steemit Community!
This is, of course, my first Steemit post (waited over 2 weeks for approval) and I am so excited to start producing content on this platform and to share ideas and writings with all of you. I have to admit, this is a first for me but something I have thought about doing and wanted to do for a long time.
If there are a couple things I enjoy just a bit more than talking and trading crypto, it has to be sports and beer. In particular, over the last several years I've developed almost an addictive hobby of playing fantasy sports and brewing beer. Looking around on Steemit, I noticed that there aren't too many people, if any at all, that produce content related to these topics. So, I thought why not be one the first to try to introduce these topics to the community.
What goes better than sports and beer? Those are my thoughts exactly and here is how I hopefully can help bring this to the Steemit community.
FANTASY SPORTS - DFS & SEASON LONG
I have been playing fantasy sports for over 10 years now including everything from your trash-talking college buddy season long fantasy football leagues to the newer trend platforms like daily fantasy sports ("DFS"). I've played football from pee-wee through the collegiate level, so football has to be my first love in all things fantasy but I do have a strong love for baseball and all of the analytics and statistics that come along with it. NFL (and sometimes NBA and MLB) is primarily the only type of season long fantasy sports I really play but when it comes to DFS, I literally play everything almost 365 days a year. You name, I've tried it. Everything from FanDuel and DraftKings to the smaller plays like Yahoo and Draft. We are currently in the final stretch of the NBA season with MLB just around the corner which I am so excited to start.
The plan for now is to bring fantasy sports to the Steemit community through content writing. Since we have MLB right around the corner and this being my favorite DFS sport, I thought that would be a great starting point to start writing up content related to DFS. If all things stay on track, I will aim to put out 2-3 articles a week directly related to DFS and that particular days slate of games focusing on larger slates. I typically dedicate hours of research each day when playing DFS, so the idea would be to share this research and hopefully help others pick the right guys for the right slate and win some cash! There are a lot of articles out there already pushing these ideas but nothing quite like this on Steemit yet. The content would be original and based purely off the work I put in prepping for the days slate. If I don't like someone in DFS, they won't be suggested. I plan to arrange the articles around both value plays and stud plays (more explained later). I think it is also important to share my journey and things I've learned along the way to help others that may be new to DFS or looking to get into it. This would include publishing articles on what I look for when preparing for a days slate, reviews of pay-for services such as optimizers, reviews of the different DFS platforms, managing bankrolls, and just general articles related to DFS but not particular to a slate. I also plan to post some content related to season long leagues, in particular NFL, as we get closer to the start of those.
Keep in mind, I'm just a regular guy that works a regular job that has a love of all things DFS. I don't do this for a living, I don't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a night on DFS and nor do I promote myself as a know-all pro as some people do. This, hopefully, will set me and others apart on Steemit, in that the content is being published by regular people who understand the needs and demands of other similar people trying to be competitive within the DFS community.
Of course, if you are new to DFS and would like to try out some of the major platforms, please consider following my referral links below:
BEER - HOMEBREWING
You may be thinking by now, I thought he said he likes beer? Well, I do, and I like it a lot. A few years ago I received a Mr. Beer Homebrew kit as an xmas present and not long after decided to give it a try making my first beer in stovetop fashion. It was absolutely terrible and I didn't make another beer with the kit nor did I have any intention to ever try to homebrew again. Fast forward a couple of years and I decided to give it a try again, this time with another kit that I picked up at a local store (Brooklyn Beer kit I believe). This time it was palatable, though not great, and my hobby began. I started doing some research, buying books, watching YouTube videos and trying out different pre-made kits and styles of beer, slowing learning the process and what beers I like. I also discovered an enormous community out there that enjoys homebrewing, teaching the art of brewing, and competing with various styles. This all intrigued me and I haven't stopped brewing since. What is most exciting is that anyone can do. Something as simple as a couple pots, water and ingredients and the everyday man/women can brew on the stove. In a similar fashion, that same guy/gal can spend tons of money growing his craft and establish a full-blow micro brew in their basement. There truly is a beer for everyone and a million different ways to experiment and make unique beers. Personally, I'm an avid fan of IPAs but have no issue trying everything out. Currently, I have a Oktoberfest style lager chilling in my kegerator here at home.
Typically I brew in a more hybrid fashion, that is, a mixture of grain (specialty) and liquid malt extract. I've found this to be the best of both worlds in that you get the more advanced process and tastes associated with all-grain but can readily speed up the the brewing process by utilizing some extracts. I do plan to do a few all-grain brews this summer and fully intend to document and publish content on that.
Again, this a topic and area I haven't found much content on within the Steemit community so I figured why not give it a shot. The plan for this, unlike weekly updates on fantasy sports, will be to document my journey and different beers I've made. Hopefully I will be able to publish some videos for the different beers I make and frequently update on their progress. I also plan to publish general content on homebrewing in general. Articles related to how to get started, reviews of kits I've tried, equipment needed, and all the ins and outs of brewing your own beer. I would love to hear the types of beers you guys like and would like to see made.
Now you know a little bit about me, my interests, and plans to get started on Steemit. What about you guys? Do you like the ideas to inject fantasy sports and beer making into the community? Let me know your thoughts.
I look forward to starting this journey and sharing with you all my hobbies!
Cheers,
Big-E
