A lot of times newbies make these mistakes and do not know they are making them.
I remember when I started my journey on hive and I thought hive was about doing contests and cashing out. I regret this action till tomorrow.
Also, I discovered that some newbies do outrageous things like abusing tags.
I made a lot of mistakes on hive and I have also studied different patterns of mistakes newbies tend to make.
That being said, lets get to the meat of the post for today.
In this post, I will be talking about the 3 common mistakes most newbies make when they start up their hive account.
This is the most common mistake made by a lot of newbies and sadly old ones that have not found their way.
In as much as making a post happens to be what gives you the most rewards, starting with commenting sets the ground to have a great start.
This is the more reason why most times when I see a newbie, the first task I give them is to make 100 comments in their first week.
A lot of people think it's about making post which is an obvious wrong step.
The real truth is audience first, post next.
If you don't have an audience, your posts will be within the zeros or at most it will be limited to a certain value.
Have a look at the big accounts on the blockchain, you will discover that their comment to posting ratio is about 30:1.
You will also notice that they usually are among the top 40 in the engagement league hosted by

You can't go far on hive if you don't engage
I was observing some newbies and I discovered that some of them use the leofinance tag without having any financial information in their posts.
I went on to ask them why they were doing it. I heard a lot of ridiculous reasons.
The most common reason was when they posted in the community, they got upvotes.
This is called abuse of tags.
I also discovered that some people do things like using the introduceyourself tag after they have done their introductory post.
The truth is that you can't go far by doing this.
The hive community has a way of knowing people who are interested in the community.
It is also worth noting that 
Trust me, you don't want to be caught by hive watchers.
Plagiarism is the act of presenting other people's work as your own without referencing them.
When people first come into hive and they discover it is a content platform that pays, a lot of funny people ideas pop into the head of newbies.
The next thing they think of is stealing from the internet and posting it here.
Plagiarism is highly frowned at on the hive blockchain and it is something that can crash your account to the zero.
If you want to use someone else's work, make sure to source it.
